My name is Slade L. I am a freshman here at my high school, Class of 2014. At the beginning of eighth grade I didn’t want to go to here at all. Everyone said that it wasn’t a fun school or that it was for nerds. My sister kept telling me that it was a great school and that I would love it, but I didn’t buy that for a second. My mom told me that I could shadow a student at every school. I wanted to go to, but I would also have to shadow my sister here too. I didn’t want to because I had already made up my mind for VHS, but I still shadowed my sister here, and then I shadowed my friend at VHS. After that I knew that I wanted to go to that “nerd school”. I knew that a good education was worth the price of going to a smaller school. That if I wanted a better life after high school I would have to make some sacrifices, so I did.
This year I would like to make above a 3.5 or all A’s and B’s, with more A’s then B’s. When I get out of high school I would like to have every grade at least above a C,so that I will be able to attend a University. I would like to get at least a Bachelor's degree at whatever university I attend. I would like to get a job that I enjoy. Not just a desk job but a job that you are up and around, at least part of the time. That is why I will probably go into the Military or Law Enforcement.
My family, like all, is a little odd. My mother is what holds us together with her bright personality, and I would like to stop fighting with her overall. I would like to do chores right when she asks me to do them and not procrastinate. My sister and I rarely fight, but I would like to stop it completely. My father and I are friends, but we rarely see each other, either because of school or friends. I would like to see him more, and spend more time with him.
Slade's brainstorming diagram!
At my old school all of my friends split up into different high schools. I would like to stay friends with most of them but I know it will be difficult. I would like to stay friends with Blayke and Jeremy who now attend SBHS. I would also like to stay friends with Dylan from VHS and Sam from BHS. I would like to go to all the dances at our school and all the the other schools. I would also like to make a lot of friends here.
This year I am taking PE at the YMCA. I am in 6th period, and Mrs. Stevens is my teacher. I am excited because it meets my goal of working out three times a week. I would like to start lifting weights and maybe swimming at the YMCA. I would also like to start a better diet too. I would like to put more protein and nutrients into my diet. I would also like to only eat fast food on occasion. I would like to get up and moving more and sit around less.
At this school I have a lot of goals to accomplish before college. I know that my goals will probably change throughout high school, throughout life. I just hope that these goals are accomplished. If it’s to go to college, to travel, or to get married, I just hope I do them before my life zooms by me. “Goals are not only absolutely necessary to motivate us. They are essential to really keep us alive”-Robert Schuller
